I just read the news about Majel Roddenberry passing away in her sleep on the 19th.

Majel was not only a part of Star Trek literally since it's first hour - she played the first officer of the Enterprise under Captain Pike in the first pilot shot for NBC, later she portrayed Nurse Chapell and Lwaxwana Troy and gave her voice to many Starfleet computers - mainly she was a really lovely lady.

I had the chance to meet her once, on a convention, and got the impression of a cheerful person with a huge heart.

Speaking as a member of the family of Trekkers: It feels a bit like we lost our mum now.
