Looking forward
One one level this year pretty much sucked. Without boring you with the details (lots of German Bureaucracy involved - and it really deserves the capitol "B") - my overall situation this year, monetary, work and such stuff, sucked donkeydicks - to some degree I assume my own fault as well, as I seem to lack the needed aggression to competently "sell myself" on today's market...
But moaning around how bad everything has been is not what I want to do. There HAS been some positive things over this year, that, no surprise, don't have much to do with money...
While not enough, I did some contract web building this year that was fun and interesting to do, gave me the one time chance to work together with real professionals in the business of promotion and design, and in the process learn a lot for myself. A BIG thanks to the teams from Bavaria and Bonn, you know who you are! :)
On a much more personal level - I got to know some new friends over the year who I really, really like a lot. :) Both "Real Life" and online.
Like my next door neighbours - a Canadian-German family I got to know a little closer this year. It's always a pleasure to meet with them and talk about small things and big things. Thanks to YOU guys for the good times (past and yet to come), for introducing me to "Bone" (Stupid, STUPID Rat Creatures!) and "Tintenherz" (I started to read this yesterday and already am captured by the storytelling, they just left home and drove to the aunt living by the lake, looking forward to continue), and the great poetry reading (you had to be there to believe it!) and simply for being who you are! All three of you. :)
Online I got to know a bunch of cool people too - the nice community in the forum of karlbartos.com for example, while still a little young (the forum opened in January, and by chance I browsed there like in the first week and got stuck), has a nice little group of regulars including, of course, Karl himself from time to time.
The Gobshite is having a bit of a slow start, but GenoPeppino who's running the page has been preoccupied with real life issues and I can understand his priorities aren't on the website and the forum right now. Anyways - check the place out and if you feel like you have what it takes to be a Gobshite, maybe sign up for the forums (the bogshite) and say "Hi"! :)
Another place I'm at least lurking around at from time to time is the Forum of Martin Lindhe aka Bassic - at this time it's the home of a little wandering community that has it's origin in the "old days" of mp3.com when the original creators were still owning the place. People who like and make electronic music - some of them I know over ten years now, right from the "beginning", when I put my first music oline and listened to other people's works. Heyyaaaa, folks! :)
Of course I mustn't forget the people I got into contact with on myspace - for example Adi and Jane, or George from Australia, Marc... New friends and some long lost old faces too... :) It'd be a long list to really name all...
Then, more or less last week, there's been two more blips on my personal event horizon that both might turn out very interesting in several ways - I'm really curious how the events might unfold, and when something comes from it I'll tell you... :)
