Is that a new layout I see before me?
Ok, obviously I finally got bored enough with my old standard page layout to toy around with some ideas. If you had a look at it already you maybe can answer two questions for me:
No1: (the obvious one): Do you like it?
No2 (If you use IE7): Does the layout on your browser look as in the screenshot on the left or is something messed up like the one on the right? I know it is on the old IE 6, but if on the much wider spread IE7 (and other Browsers - I use Firefox and IE6 here) it looks ok I won't go the extra yard to make an extra IE css-file anymore...
I know the left version isn't perfect either, but if this generally works for most browsers I can look into a few remaining things (like the frame-in-a-frame with the top missing like under "Networking", I already noticed that).

I definitively prefer the
I definitively prefer the old website layout!!
It's true, the new one has a "darker, more gloomy, electronic" look, but the former design was calmer, easier to read - and the combination of white with different tones blue had a cool, airy style, that fitted better to the electronic mood of your music than the newer website does.

Answer to SeBiG, open for more feedback of course! :)
Ok, that's what I wanted: Honest feedback with reasons added. :)
If I understand you correctly the main complaint here is the colour scheme? Could you imagine the same general layout (the boxes with the rounded edges) with another - like the previous "blue on white"? At this point I'm not fully done anyways and I'm open to suggestions in many details.
The green colour scheme was just an idea - going the "old fashioned monitor" direction - and the darker "computer board" background is because I think that a mono coloured background looks a bit boring. Also the Logo on the top left side isn't final, it's an early stage of some ideas I'm still toying around with.
Hmmm... Today I got some other page to work on first (finally a new little job!), but I might be back later and simply set up an alternative colour scheme more like the original, just to see what it looks like.
The new Layout under Internet Explorer
OK, I just got the confirmation that under the new Internet Explorer the design still is messed up. What a branch leading corporation, to not get it's browsers TO CONFORM TO THE BLOODY STANDARDS after ten years (*)... Sigh...
Ok, for now bear with it, after all it doesn't make the site unwatchable, only ugly and unprofessional. ;) And that I'm going to fix in a little time, I just have to create a second CSS file for the IE with some rules redefined a little.
(*) If you've diddled around with html yourself you most likely came across this yourself by now, but if not: No, I kid you not, the world's biggest software manufacturer still hasn't been able to bring out a webbrowser that reads html exactly like any other browser that's conform to the standards.
The fact you don't usually notice this is, that all the pages out there were normally designed by someone knowing about this and who took it into consideration. There's different ways to solve the problem, but it basically boils down to this:
For some html/css elements you need to work around this problem by providing the Internet Explorer with it's own set of values for margins on your page. And don't think it's some exotic, rarely used functions, we're talking pretty basic stuff like the margins of a field. What happens if you don't remember that can be seen pretty well in my two screenshots - the IE has those fields crashing into each other while under Standard-html-compatible browsers like Firefox or, for example, Opera on the Mac this page works.
Ok, enough of the rant - I'm not telling you this to get to use another browser if you're on IE, but just so you know what all those poor webdesigners have to work with every day of their miserable lifes... ;)
Some more changes
Now the broken frames are gone and I rearranged everything a little as well.
I like it. Still the question is open to everybody: does everything on your browser look rather like the left or the right screenshot?
More small changes, allmost done now
Ok, I found out how to adjust the audioplayer's looks and changed it's colours to the page's scheme. Also I got it to be smaller in the right sidebar, so now the sidebars can be displayed at the same size. Not that hard at all. :)
Me thinks that I should be ready with everything during the weekend - I'll be out of the house tomorrow or I'd sit down now and finish it all until it's done... ;)
For now all that remains is adjusting some text spacings and margins and then adapt everything to Microsoft Internet Explorer as well - on other browsers you should see everything as it's intended to be seen, on IE what remains now is getting the middle content back into the middle actually...
Nice, I feel satisfied. :)
IE should look almost right now
I adjusted the middle column. If there's still something looking weird then let me know and of course tell me what browser you're using.
If you, by chance, run Safari - do the music players work for you?
