JG Ballard knows my music? Now I'm proud! XD
I did a little searching for my name again - it's allways interesting to see *if* and *what* ppl write about you. ;)
I came about this article here:

"Crash, a tribute to JG Ballard" is a CD sampler I joined quite some time ago - the tune "The Final Strand" (http://www.brielmusik.de/?q=node/607) was originally written for this release.
What made me terribly proud back then is to be on a sampler together with Pankow, Sabotage and especially Clock DVA. From the linked article above I just learned that Ballard himself actually came to know the CD!
I admit it would be nice to know how (if at all) he likes the tune. :)

Ok, JG Ballard DOESN'T know my music
Seems I have been a little quick with that posting. I just received an answer by the person who during an interview at Ballard's home pointed out the CD to him in 1997 - a fact he didn't mention in his short blog comment at Ballardian was that Ballard doesn't own a CD player or PC to play CDs on.
So I guess I have to answer "JG Ballard knows my music?" with a "allmost certainly not". Ah well. :)
The Final Strand really is The Terminal Beach! Duh! XD

"[...] I read your explanation of it on your website, which says you based the song on the JGB short, ‘The Final Strand’. You say it “touched me: a man, living – or better: dying – alone on an island used as a nuclear testing ground, is visited by visions of his family. *Very* sad.”
But surely the song is based on the short story ‘The Terminal Beach’? That is the exact storyline you are describing here, ie a man dying on a nuclear island — that’s ‘The Terminal Beach’! As far as I know there is no story of Ballard’s called ‘The Final Strand’!
Has the title been lost in translation, perhaps?
All the best,
Simon"
And of course Simon is absolutely right! The name of the tune has been wrong all those years! I had a German translation of "The Terminal Beach" called "Der Finale Strand" and instead of checking the original's title I translated it back incorrectly and never ever noticed it!
